Lyle C. Wells
Passion for Agriculture Fund
Lyle C. Wells, was an 11th generation farmer with a steadfast passion for agriculture and a tireless commitment to furthering the farming community on the East End of Long Island. Always one to get ahead of the curve, he was constantly searching for ways to push the envelope with new farming techniques, crops, or innovative distribution networks. In association with the Long Island Farm Bureau, Lyle's family look forward to honoring his legacy and continuing these causes.

The LCW Passion for Agriculture Fund was established in 2018 in memory of 11th generation Riverhead farmer Lyle Wells, who died in an accident on his farm on Jan. 25, 2018. The fund was established by Wells’ children, Jessica, Matthew and Logan to promote innovation in agriculture and to support new and evolving farmers.

Every year the Lyle C. Wells - Passion for Agriculture Fund will award a $5,000 grant to an existing or new Long Island farmer who shares Lyle's passion for agriculture, innovation and the farming community.
The first grant recipient was Early Girl Farm in East Moriches in 2019. The 2020 recipient will be awarded this fall.
Applications for the 2021 award will open in March and run through May 2021.
