- Farm Bureau is about preserving Long Island’s remaining open land and beautiful vistas through voluntary preservation programs
- Our members respect private property rights – the American Way of Life
- We actively promote tourism within our region, including "agri-tainment" (ever been to a pick-your-own, a strawberry festival, or pumpkin-pickin' festivals in Fall?)
- LIFB members make significant economic contributions to the Long Island region
- LIFB members are committed to preserving and protecting our environment
- We utilize sound scientific principles in member use of state-of-the-art pest control technologies and methodologies
- We work with other organizations committed to the conservation of Long Island’s open spaces
- One of our primary missions is to preserve Long Island's remaining rural way-of-life and preserve the 300 year legacy of rural Long Island
- As an organization, and working with other organiztions, we are committed to the promotion of Best Management Practices for LI growers, fisherfolk and farm producers
- LIFB promotes and supports intelligent, balanced legislation and regulation for the common good - to our local communities better places to work and raise a family
- LIFB members can’t do this alone – they cooperate with and invite the support of neighbors, public officials and like-minded organizations to address critical issues for the future, such as:
- Farm lands and open space preservation
- Alternative energy sources to meet future power needs
- Intelligent electric power line rights-of-way policies
- Transfer Development Rights (TDRs)
- Master Planning and Zoning
- Suffolk County and town purchase of farmland development rights
- Worker housing
- Farmland worker issues
- Farm stand marketing
- Agri-zoning and land use issues
- Leasing of bay bottoms such as for those who harvest clams, scallops, or oysters)
- Integrated, sensible pest control policies and practices
